JaMarlin Fowler is a visual and performing artist born in Dallas, Texas on December 14th, 1983. He is a Twin, and that has played a profound impact on who he is as a person and as an Artist.
He began his performing career in acting in 1991. Later he would expand his skill sets to comedy in 2000, where he began performing at the Throughgood Inn Comedy Club in Norfolk, VA.
He worked in electronics for the Navy Exchange System and purchased his first camera when he was 16 years old and that is what began his photography journey
After graduating from Granby High School and taking classes at Tidewater Community College in Business Administration, JaMarlin left his twin and moved westward after a short stay in New York to Tucson, Arizona in 2003 to pursue his ambitions as an artist.
In Tucson, He attended The University of Arizona, where he switched his major to philosophy and psychology. After a year of taking classes at The University of Arizona, and also acting classes at Pima Community College, JaMarlin dropped out of college to work full time and continue his comedy career in 2006
He begin doing open mics at Laff’s Comedy Club in Tucson, which later became guest sets and eventually he would become a regular Host/MC. After performing on the road, taping comedy sets for himself and for others, he filmed his first comedy DVD in Tucson in 2007.
After traveling the southwest performing in multiple states, as well as around the country where he had contacts, JaMarlin Fowler moved to Los Angeles, California in March of 2012.
After moving to Los Angeles, he began his career as both a Los Angeles-based professional actor and comedian. He began taking acting classes, and auditioned and was given performing sets at multiple clubs in the area.
He booked his first SAG-AFTRA Project as a guest star in October 2012, a show called “Maron” that appeared in IFC, before ending up on Netflix.
After doing movies, web based projects and continuing to perform comedy, JaMarlin gained California residency. This changed the trajectory of his career.
After taking workshops and spending time with other artists, he returned to college as an instate resident to finish the education he started back in 2001.
He first attended Los Angeles City College in 2014, where he quickly finished his degree in Cinema Production due to his previous college credits and graduated from LACC in 2015.
After deciding on what would be better for his long term future, he accepted an offer to attend the University of California, Irvine in Fall 2015 instead of staying in Los Angeles and re-entering performing.
After graduating from the University of California, Irvine in 2017 and spending another year mentoring and teaching photography and production as an independent artist at UCI’s Antrepreneur Center, JaMarlin moved back to Los Angeles in 2019.
He returned to Los Angeles City College to expand his network and take the advanced production courses there, but also at Los Angeles Valley College.
At Los Angeles Valley College, he finished degrees in Screenwriting, Producing, Directing, Post-Production and also finished his business administration degree from 2001, by turning it into a degree in Economics in 2019.
After taking a break to work his art, publish two books, create multiple projects, and most importantly spend some time with his son, JaMarlin Fowler is returning to performing full-time.
